Why do we judge ourselves; by what we do, rather than by how we measure ourselves within ?

Pop was a Corporation man, sold out to the white collar world that made him look good. No time for a young man that wanted to live the life that he had imagined, only the one that was acceptable to social settings. Seeking that mentor that would play ball, fix the bike ,never showed. As the promotions hit the fortune 500,and life slowly passed us by, of corse I did all the wrong things that I could do to attract that love only a father could provide. As I grew older I found myself changing only to the wind, not understanding the power that only birds enjoyed, along with the bikers ofcourse. It was not the rebelious attitude that I loved it was a buddy that took the time. But even that wasn't the whole story after searching within. It was'' being in the wind''. Still I haden't found that place where I was content. Until she smiled. Life isn't fair, and we still go on searching. What happens when we quit searching for the rest of life. When we quit living amongst the dead.We loose life.

Why do we judge ourselves; by what we do, rather than by how we measure ourselves within ?
Alright. Most people I know measure themselves by worth, or material things. Things like how hot, how much money, how many boyfriends, what colledge, and stuff like that. In other words, for most people, life is one big race, and the primary instinc is win. No on likes to lose, right?
Reply:plain simple question?
Reply:we judge ourselves for others as there are many among us who are more concerned about what people think of us rather than what we think of ourselves. Living our lives for others instead of for ourselves.....sad is it not?
Reply:i have the same problem my father tried to give me everthing ,but , a kind word or a pat on the back . that is why i think that is the way i am . i did not hate him by any means but the way he lived his life was his. i have chosen a diffrent way encouragement and recognizing someone to just do the best you can . and never never forget who you are and strive to be that way no matter what anyone says
Reply:Amen, life isn't fair. Keep looking for that one place you can be content at. Life is too short to mourn, but we do it anyway just to let out anger or fear of something. Unfortunately, things won't change. Life isn't perfect.
