Hi!
I just got my dog and my cat spayed yesterday. Talk about a nerveracking day! When they came home they were very lethargic, which I think is normal, and they didn't want to eat. This morning they still weren't interested in food or water, which makes me nervous. When I get home from work this afternoon I'll take off their E-Collars and coax them to have some water and hopefully some food.
The vet told me to give the cat and dog their pain medication in the morning and in the evening. I gave my dog her pain medication fine. My kitty has never been sick and never needed medications, so I gave her her meds this morning (syrup) and she took them, but once she started swallowing it she jumped straight up in the air and took off in to the other room. I had left her collar on. I was so worried that she was going to pop a stitch (internal stitches) or something. I pet her once she was in the other room and she seemed fine, but I'm so nervous! What should I do? Is this normal?
My Dog and Cat just got spayed yesterday, are their actions normal??
for your animals this was a very tramatic experience their hormones have just thrown out of wack so give it a couple of days most animals start to eat and drink after the first day or so, so if their not eating by tomorrow then you should worry but otherwise just give them attention and love them and they should be fne in a week or so. the animals may also be very lasy until there hormone schedule straightens otu so just bear with them and good luck. oh and yes this is very normal behaviour for your animals
Reply:It was probably something in the medication that didn't taste good to her and made her jump like that. I have a cat who will go to my drink (a soda) and when she realizes it's carbonated she takes off.... she doesn't like the carbonation. If she's acting normal other than that one incident then she's probably fine. Just keep an eye on her and make sure she's getting better about eating, drinking, and personality wise.
Reply:Obviously you have never given a cat medicine! Yes, this is normal! My cat has to take hormones weekly and you would think she would be used to it, but we play the "hide and seek" game every time. She seems to know EXACTLY what day it is.
Good luck!
